Allegiant Air Pet Policy (2026): Fees, Carrier Size & Rules

Yes. Allegiant Air allows dogs and cats in the cabin on domestic flights only for $50 each way, per carrier. The carrier must fit under the seat in front of you, up to 18 × 12 × 11 in (soft-sided) or 17 × 11 × 10.5 in (hard-sided). Pets can't fly in cargo or as checked baggage.

How to add your dog to a booking

  1. Pet-in-Cabin is one of Allegiant's optional services. The pages we checked don't describe how to add it, so ask Allegiant when you book.
  2. At the departure airport, an Allegiant agent checks that your pet fits comfortably in the carrier.
  3. Keep your pet fully inside the carrier, under the seat in front of you, from the airport until you deplane.

  • The pet fee is nonrefundable.
  • Allegiant's fee list labels it "per person, per segment", while its Contract of Carriage says "for each one-way flight for a pet carrier". Allegiant mostly flies nonstop, where the two are the same.

Carrier size and weight

Allegiant Air doesn't publish a weight limit for pets in the cabin. What matters is the carrier: your pet has to fit inside it, and it has to fit under the seat in front of you.

Soft-sided carrier (maximum, external)

18 × 12 × 11 in

  • Soft-sided carriers are preferred (hard-sided accepted). Sizes are external, measured with the carrier fully closed. An Allegiant agent at the airport decides whether your pets fit.
  • Your pet carrier plus either a personal item or a carry-on bag, not both.
  • Pets must be at least 8 weeks old.

Where you can sit

  • Not in an exit row
  • Not in a bulkhead row
  • No aisle seats on Boeing aircraft (you'll be moved)

Allegiant accepts pets only on flights within the 48 contiguous states:

  • Any flight outside the 48 contiguous states

Breeds

Allegiant Air doesn't mention short-nosed breeds.

Also good to know

  • Your pet must stay fully inside the carrier at the airport, while boarding and during the flight. Breaking this rule can get your pet refused on future flights.
  • Pets can't be placed or strapped into a seat. The carrier goes under the seat in front of you.
  • Pets must not be ill or in distress, and must be harmless, non-disruptive and odorless.

Cargo and checked pets

Allegiant Air doesn't carry pets in the cargo hold, so a dog that doesn't fit in an under-seat carrier can't fly with Allegiant Air.

Service dogs and emotional support animals

  • Only trained service dogs are accepted as service animals.
  • Required paperwork: U.S. DOT Service Animal Transportation Form, at least 48 hours before departure.

Other details

  • Up to 2 trained service dogs fly free, and they need a current rabies vaccination.
  • Allegiant's Contract of Carriage doesn't mention emotional support animals.
