JSX Pet Policy (2026): Large Dogs, Fees & Rules

Yes. JSX allows dogs and cats in the cabin on domestic and international flights for $100 per flight segment, per pet. The carrier must fit under the seat in front of you, up to 17 × 13 × 11 in. Your pet must weigh less than 30 lb (≈ 13.6 kg). Dogs under 80 lb that don't fit in a carrier can ride in the cabin too, on the floor in front of an extra seat you buy.

How to add your dog to a booking

  1. Say you're traveling with a pet when you book online, or call JSX Customer Support to add your pet.
  2. Fill in the JSX Pet Acceptance Form (required for every pet).
  3. For a large dog, buy the seat next to yours when you book.
  4. Tell the Airport Services Concierge at check-in that you're traveling with a pet.

  • JSX's policy calls it "a fare of $100 per one way", and its fees page says pet fees "are charged per segment", so a trip with a connection pays it on each flight.
  • Large dogs: you pay for the seat next to yours instead (see Large dogs).
  • Seat selection on Hop On fares costs extra. The fees table shows "$10.00 – $115.00", but its note says "a fee ranging between $20 and $115 per segment". Confirm with JSX.

Carrier size and weight

The weight limit is less than 30 lb (≈ 13.6 kg). Bigger dogs can ride on the floor with an extra seat (see Large dogs).

  • The carrier must be leak-proof and well ventilated, and fit comfortably under the seat in front of you along with your other personal items. JSX may lend you a small carrier if one is available.
  • The carrier counts as one of your two personal items.
  • Up to 5 pets are allowed per flight.
  • 1 carrier per passenger, with one pet inside.

  • Carriers can't go in the bulkhead, emergency exit rows or the aisle, or on a seat

Large dogs in the cabin

Dogs under 80 lb that don't fit in a carrier can ride in the cabin too, on the floor in front of an extra seat you buy.

  • Buy the seat next to yours for your dog. Your dog lies on the floor in front of that seat, not on it.
  • One large dog per customer, on a leash at all times.
  • On planes with two seats on one side, your dog uses the space in front of the window seat (C) and you sit in the aisle seat (B), in any row except the exit rows. The leash is tied to the seat frame before the plane moves.
  • The two seats must be available together when you book.

Price: The price of the extra seat, which varies by route, plus any seat selection fee. JSX's fees page also lists a $100 pet fee; its policy doesn't say whether that fee applies to a large dog with its own seat, so confirm with JSX.

Where pets can't fly

We haven't verified which routes, if any, don't accept pets on JSX. Check the official page before you book.

Breeds

JSX doesn't mention short-nosed breeds.

Also good to know

  • Pets must be well-behaved, non-aggressive and well groomed. Barking excessively, aggression, running around off the leash or relieving themselves on board can get you and your pet denied travel.
  • Small dogs can come out of the carrier during the flight if they stay under your control in your seating area; a small, well-behaved dog no larger than a lap infant can sit on your lap except during takeoff and landing. Cats stay in the carrier.
  • To Mexico: dogs need a New World Screwworm inspection certificate from a USDA-accredited vet, issued no more than 5 days before entering Mexico.
  • From Mexico to the U.S.: dogs need a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and a screwworm freedom certificate issued no more than 5 days before arrival.

Cargo and checked pets

Not verified yet. JSX's pet policy only covers pets in the cabin and doesn't mention the hold. Ask JSX if you need to ship a pet in the hold.

  • Emotional support animals fly as regular pets, under the pet rules and fee on this page.
