JetBlue Airways Pet Policy (2026): Fees, Carrier Size & Rules

Yes. JetBlue allows dogs and cats in the cabin on domestic and international flights for $150 each way, per pet. The carrier must fit under the seat in front of you, up to 17 × 12.5 × 8.5 in. Pets can't fly in cargo or as checked baggage.

How to add your dog to a booking

  1. Add your pet in the Extras section when you book on jetblue.com or in the JetBlue app, or contact JetBlue.
  2. Once the fee is paid and your pet is confirmed, check in online, in the app or at a kiosk from 24 hours before your flight.
  3. At the airport, get your JetPaws bag tag for the carrier at the full-service counter or from a crewmember in the self-service lobby.
  4. At security, hold your pet and walk through the screening while the carrier is inspected. Your pet never goes through the x-ray machine.

Carrier size and weight

JetBlue doesn't publish a weight limit for pets in the cabin. What matters is the carrier: your pet has to fit inside it, and it has to fit under the seat in front of you.

  • Soft-sided and hard-sided carriers are both accepted. Your pet must be able to stand up and move around inside with ease. JetBlue sells carriers at the airport ticket counter for $55 (limited stock).
  • Your pet and carrier count as your one personal item and must fit under the seat in front of you.
  • Up to 6 pets are allowed per flight.

Where you can sit

  • Main cabin only (pets aren't allowed in Mint)
  • Not in an emergency exit row, a bulkhead seat, or any seat restricted for under-seat stowage
  • Window or aisle seats are highly recommended

Where pets can't fly

JetBlue doesn't accept pets on flights to or from:

  • Colombia (BAQ, CLO, CTG, MDE)
  • Dominican Republic (POP, PUJ, SDQ, STI)
  • Ecuador (GYE)
  • Guatemala (GUA)
  • Guyana (GEO)
  • Haiti (PAP)
  • Honduras (SAP)
  • Trinidad & Tobago (POS)
  • U.K./Europe (AMS, BCN, CDG, DUB, EDI, LGW, LHR, MAD, MXP)

Breeds

JetBlue doesn't mention short-nosed breeds.

Also good to know

  • Pets aren't accepted on interline or codeshare bookings, however the booking was made.
  • Unaccompanied minors can't travel with a pet.
  • For international flights, every dog must appear healthy, be at least 6 months old, be microchipped (with proof) and have a completed CDC Dog Import Form receipt.
  • Dogs flying to Mexico need a New World Screwworm Inspection Certificate from a USDA-accredited vet, issued no more than 5 days before arrival (effective August 3, 2026).
  • Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands require vaccination documents for pets.

Cargo and checked pets

JetBlue doesn't carry pets in the cargo hold, so a dog that doesn't fit in an under-seat carrier can't fly with JetBlue.

    Other details

    • During the flight you can hold your pet in its carrier on your lap. If you bought an extra seat, the carrier can sit on that seat (under the seat for taxi, takeoff and landing).
    • Pets must stay inside the zipped carrier at the airport and on the plane (you can unzip it briefly to feed or help your pet).
