How to add your dog to a booking

  1. Call Sun Country Reservations to reserve your pet's spot, one reservation per direction. Booking ahead costs $75 instead of $100.
  2. If you didn't book ahead, you can ask at the airport, but only if fewer than six pets are already booked on the flight.
  3. Keep your pet in its carrier under the seat in front of you for the whole flight.

Carrier size and weight

Sun Country doesn't publish a weight limit for pets in the cabin. What matters is the carrier: your pet has to fit inside it, and it has to fit under the seat in front of you.

Pet carrier (maximum, soft- or hard-sided)

  • Soft-sided carriers are strongly recommended (hard-sided are accepted). The carrier needs a leak-proof bottom and good ventilation, and must fit under the seat in front of you.
  • Up to 6 pets are allowed per flight.
  • 1 carrier per passenger, with one pet inside.

Where you can sit

  • Not in a bulkhead or exit row seat
  • Sun Country recommends a middle seat, which has the most under-seat space

Where pets can't fly

Pets fly only within the 48 contiguous United States. They're not accepted on:

  • Any international flight
  • Flights to or from Alaska
  • Flights to or from Puerto Rico
  • Flights to or from the U.S. Virgin Islands

Sun Country doesn't mention short-nosed breeds.

  • Your pet must stay in its carrier at all times. If the carrier doesn't fit under the seat, your pet may be denied transportation.
