LATAM Airlines Pet Policy (2026): Fees, Carrier Size & Rules

Yes. LATAM allows dogs and cats in the cabin on domestic and international flights for $250 per pet, on long-haul flights. The carrier must fit under the seat in front of you, up to 40 × 28 × 25 cm (soft-sided) or 36 × 33 × 19 cm (hard-sided).

How to add your dog to a booking

  1. Buy your ticket, then book the pet service through a LATAM sales office, the Contact Center or WhatsApp. You can do it up to 4 hours before departure.
  2. Once it's confirmed, you get your boarding pass at the airport, where an agent checks the carrier and your pet's documents.

Carrier size and weight

LATAM doesn't publish a weight limit for pets in the cabin. What matters is the carrier: your pet has to fit inside it, and it has to fit under the seat in front of you. LATAM says any weight is fine as long as your pet meets the size rules.

Flexible carrier (maximum)

40 × 28 × 25 cm

Rigid kennel (maximum)

36 × 33 × 19 cm

  • Your pet must be able to stand without touching the top and turn naturally without touching the sides. No wheels, and no carriers modified with non-original parts. Rigid kennels need a metal door with double locks.
  • Pets must be at least 16 weeks old, or 6 months old for travel involving the United States.
  • The number of pets allowed on each flight depends on the aircraft.
  • 1 carrier per passenger.

Where you can sit

  • Aisle seat, with the carrier under the seat in front
  • Not in the first row or an emergency exit row
  • Premium Economy (1 pet per flight) and Economy (up to 5 per flight) only; not Premium Business

Routes, breeds and other restrictions

Where pets can't fly

LATAM's pet service isn't available on:

  • Galapagos, Aruba, Australia, Curaçao, England, Mount Pleasant, New Zealand and South Africa
  • Fernando de Noronha: only guide dogs, police dogs and some residents' pets
  • Between the U.S. and Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia: temporarily suspended (CDC rules), with some exceptions at airports with CDC facilities
  • Orlando: no pet travel
  • Boston and Orlando: no dogs vaccinated outside the U.S.
  • Flights operated by Wamos Air
  • Connections with other airlines or codeshare flights

Breeds

Short-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds are not accepted in cargo. Short-nosed dogs and cats (such as Pugs, Bulldogs, Boxers, Shih Tzus, Persian cats) aren't accepted in the hold, but can fly in the cabin if they meet the cabin rules.

Also good to know

  • Minors traveling with an adult or as unaccompanied minors can't add pet service to their booking.
  • Your pet needs a vet health certificate dated no more than 10 days before travel (original and a copy).

Cargo and checked pets

LATAM carries pets in the cargo hold through pets in the hold. Rigid kennel in the hold. Twin-aisle aircraft (B767, B777, B787): up to 45 kg with the kennel (32 kg to, from or via Europe, Argentina or Venezuela). Single-aisle (A319, A320, A321): up to 32 kg on flights up to 4 hours, 23 kg for 4 to 5 hours, not over 5 hours. Fees depend on weight and route.
